Happy Easter!

In our last newsletter we introduced you to the Waverton Hub website. The website is our clubhouse. It is the place to go when you want to find out what is happening and when. 
Coming up you will find a Ladies' Lunch and a Mens' Dinner in May - they will be listed on the Events page and in the Calendar.
If you have not yet logged in to the website, now is the time. Go to the website, go to the top right corner and click log in.

The Waverton Hub app is another way to find out what is happening. The tiger icon (picture on left) is what to look for.

On the right is what the App looks like on Carol's iphone. The app will look very similar on your phone and you will be able to keep in touch with the Hub wherever you are.

The Hub Members' Afternoon Tea on March 19 was a huge success. The Afternoon Teas are a wonderful occasion to relax and enjoy the company of Hub friends, new and old. This was our first opportunity to ask you to register on the Hub website for an event and it worked very well. You will find many more photos in the Gallery on the Website or the App.

There will be another Afternoon Tea in June! 

Penny Hacket, had the full attention of the audience of 40+ as she explained how the organisation of Dying with Dignity came into existence and the work they are doing. 
Penny explained the scope and eligibility requirements for Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) and the application process. She stressed the importance of making end-of-life plans with your family and healthcare providers and of having difficult conversations with loved ones.
Advanced Care Directives and the appointment of an enduring guardian were topics the audience wanted more information on.
We also learnt about the role of Death Doula.

Hub Exercise classes fill up fast.
Those who enrolled in the first term will have received a reminder to enrol for the new term from 22 APRIL TO 11 JULY.
You need to re-enrol as soon as possible if you are planning to return. If you have not received an email check your Spam or Trash folder. 

There are currently vacancies in the following classes. 

Pilates Fridays 7.30 am from 2 May
A mind-body class using mat exercises to focus on core abdominal/back muscles and posture. You must be able to get up and down to the floor with ease. You need to bring a mat and a small towel.

These classes are in Waverton Hall, 75 Bay Road and are designed for seniors.

Yoga

General Yoga 10.30am Wednesday

General Yoga 8.30 am Saturday 

Yoga classes are suitable for all levels from beginners. The class is based on Iyengar yoga and is taught by Kirsten, a qualified and experienced teacher. The class is held in the Waverton Hall, 75 Bay Road.  The cost is $25 per class payable to the teacher, Kirsten.

Book Clubs

The Book Clubs meet on the first and second Thursdays in different member's homes.
As these two book clubs are well attended the Hub is looking to set up a third Book Club. If you would be interested please send an email to wavertonhub@gmail.com marked Book Clubs.

Boules
Thursday afternoons from 4 to 6 pm on the Platform at the Coal Loader. Boules or Petanque as played in Europe.
No cost, just turn up.

Coffee Catchup
Every Thursday Hubbers gather at Third Rail Coffee Shop next to Waverton Station. Just turn up between 10 and 11 am. The photo is from one of the first catchups at Third Rail.

Croquet
Tuesday afternoons twice a month at the Chatswood Croquet Club from 1pm to 3pm.
Cost is $15 cash. You can just turn up! The Croquet Group are looking for more players so if you would like to try or want more information on the next Croquet session inquire here. 

Family History
First Monday of the month - mostly. Held in a private home, this group combines their knowledge of resources, tactics and tools to sort out family history puzzles. The group has a maximum of 10.

Games Day  first and third Mondays - except on Public Holidays
Games Day is held at the Waverton Hall from 1.30 to 3.3.30pm. The cost is $5 to cover the Hall rental. The group plays Western and Singapore Mahjong, Scrabble and Cards which is currently 500. They are keen to play other games as well.s also.

Hub Happy Hour
Join other Hubbers for a drink at Bar Quattro next to Waverton Station from 4.30 pm every Wednesday. All welcome - just turn up.

TaiChi/Qi Jong - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday in Brennan Park at 8.00 a.m.
Tai chi is an ancient form of Chinese martial art involving slow, flowing movements and controlled breathing, It offers considerable health benefits and relaxation.  
No charge, no booking. Continues throughout the year every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Just turn up near Hazelbank Rd steps at Brennan Park

Walks
Monday walks do not usually go on public holidays

Monday Local walks
These walks, led by Steve Carberry, meet at Waverton Station at around 7. 30am  (times may very slightly, so check the Facebook page).

Monday Out of Area walks
Phil Pik leads these walks, usually starting at 9.30 - from Waverton Station. Times often vary. If you are on the walker's email list you will receive the details from Phil.
These walks are weather-dependent and may not proceed if it is too hot or very wet.

For both walks you need to be prepared and to read the walk itinerary. Please ensure you have Emergency Contact details on your phone under Medical ID.

Ladies' Lunch May 6 12.30pm
It's been a while since the Hub has held a Ladies' Lunch. 
Put Tuesday May 6 in your diary for an å la carte lunch at Le Coq and Fish. 
You will need to register on the website - individuals to pay for themselves.
Bookings open on 16 April. Numbers limited.

Men's Dinner May 21 6.00pm
Enjoy a meal with men from the Hub at Le Coq and Fish.
A la carte and BYO wine only.
You will need to register on the website - individuals to pay for themselves.
Bookings open on 1 May. Numbers limited.

Christmas in July
This year the Hub will hold Christmas in July instead of a Member's Dinner.
Mark July 25 in your diary - more details to come.
