The Hub is Off to a Flying Start in 2026
The Hub has been buzzing these past couple of months, with plenty more ahead.
Alongside our regular exercise classes and walks, members have enjoyed Speakers, Games and Card Days, Book Clubs, Drawing, Family History and Croquet. Social highlights like Coffee Mornings, Happy Hour, the Hub picnic and February’s Men’s Dinner have kept calendars full.
In March, Jennifer Locke arranged for Tech Talks aimed at helping those who wanted to know more about using their mobile phones. The Talks took place at Apple in the city for those with iPhones and in the Community Hall for those with Android phones. Both were very popular, and we plan to offer more in the future. Watch your emails.
In February, filming began on a Hub video, capturing classes and member stories.
Coming up in May: a theatre outing, film night, Ladies Lunch and Men’s Dinner—lots to look forward to.
Hope to see you at a Hub event soon.
Carol Fallows
Waverton Hub President
P.S. A heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful volunteers, especially Barbara Caine (Activities), Karen Nicholls (Events), Nelly Wong (Finance) and Mary-Lyn Lawrence (Database). Many activities start with a member idea—if you have one, we’d love to hear it!

Men's Dinner Wednesday May 20 🍷
This is a men-only event, organised by the Hub specifically for the guys in the community. Apologies to the wonderful women of the Hub, but this one's for the chaps!.
Forget formalities—this is a chance to step away from the usual, catch up with mates, and meet new blokes in the community. You absolutely do not need to be a Hub member – this is a great opportunity to invite men friends to come along, whether they be a long-time local or have just moved to the area. Attendees can choose to have 3 minutes to talk to the group.
The Details:
Where: Le Coq and Fish, 69 Bay Road, Waverton.
When: 20 May 6 pm for 6.30 pmWhat: It’s an easy-going à la carte affair. You pick whatever looks good on the menu, and you settle your own bill on the night. No set menus, no fuss! BYO wine only if you like
Registrations open 1 May - mark your diary and register on the website.

Love books? Start something special at The Hub.
We’re looking for a couple of volunteers to launch a new Book Club—with a twist. Think a clear theme (non-fiction, crime, history… you name it) that draws in a great mix of readers, men and women alike.
All it takes is two coordinators and a venue or two—your home, or perhaps a community space you know (like Wondakiah). We’ll support you with the rest, so it’s easy to get going.
It’s a relaxed, social way to connect, share ideas, and build something others will really enjoy.
BTW there are a couple of spots in the Book Clubs but you need to get in quick. Email us here
Interested? We’d love to hear from you.
