Dear [[firstname]],
What an eventful and energising year 2026 has been for the Hub!
We kicked off the year with the launch of our new website, which, together with the Hub app, has made life so much easier for the volunteers who keep everything running smoothly. There were a few teething troubles (as there always are with new technology), and we’re still smoothing out the odd wrinkle, but the benefits have been tremendous. Coordinating membership fees, maintaining our member database and organising events and activities have all become simpler, faster and—dare we say—life-changing.
We’ve broadened our exercise offerings this year and strengthened some of our newer activities, including the Drawing Class, Croquet and Family History. A couple of short programs—suggested by members—are also in the pipeline. Our social calendar has remained as lively as ever: the much-loved Men’s Dinners and Ladies’ Lunches continued, we introduced Christmas in July to replace the Members’ Dinner, enjoyed a delightful summer picnic at Balls Head in January, and wrapped up the year with a fabulous Christmas Party in late November.
Looking ahead, we’re hoping to reintroduce the popular Food Safaris (in a fresh new format) and offer more theatre outings as well.
We are also developing a series of practical tech-help workshops to give members more confidence using their phones and computers—not just for navigating the Waverton Hub website, but also for everyday tasks like banking, booking theatre tickets and staying connected online. In the meantime do ask others in the Hub if they can help you if you are having problems.
You may have noticed that the Hub no longer sends out weekly e-newsletters. Producing them required many hours of volunteer time and often duplicated information already available on our website and in the activity and event emails we send. To stay up-to=date with everything happening at the Hub, we encourage you to visit the website regularly—it’s the best place to find the latest news.
Here’s to another vibrant, connected and enjoyable year at the Hub!
We wish you a safe, healthy and happy Festive Season,
Carol & The Waverton Hub team!
