Hub Speaker: Voluntary Assisted Dying. 8 April 2025 2pm

Penny Hacket, President of Dying with Dignity NSW since 2018 will give an overview of the NSW voluntary assisted dying (VAD) laws which came into effect in November 2023. 

Her talk will include:

• the need for VAD laws and Dying with Dignity's campaign for reform
• the scope and eligibility requirements for VAD and the application process
• stories from families of those who have used VAD
• making end-of-life plans to make sure your family and healthcare providers understand and respect your wishes
• a brief overview of Advance Care Directives and appointment of an enduring guardian
• the vital importance of having those difficult conversations with loved ones.

Penny was deeply involved in campaigning for VAD laws in NSW and around Australia through her involvement with the Voluntary Euthanasia Party.
