Indigenous Culture Tour of Balls Head Headland.

Join Karen Smith, Education Officer from the Aboriginal Heritage Office, for a guided exploration of this culturally significant site and its rich Aboriginal history.

Karen has been the AHO’s Education Officer since 2011 and has shared her deep knowledge of local Aboriginal history and culture with thousands of residents, students and schools across northern Sydney. She regularly leads guided walks, talks and presentations throughout the partner councils.

Karen is from the Buruberongal clan of the Hawkesbury (Derrubin) area, and her family has lived in the Manly area for many years. In recognition of her dedication to the protection and education of Aboriginal culture and heritage, she has been awarded Rotary’s prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship.

Meeting point: Outside The Coal Loader, 2 Balls Head Drive. Please look for the tour sign.

Wet weather: If conditions are unsuitable, indoor activities may replace the outdoor walk.

Recommended age: 16+

Accessibility: The site is fully accessible and all physical abilities are welcome.

Bookings are essential. This is a limited-capacity event and participants must register using their own name and contact details.
Cost: Free to attend — please only book if you are able to come.

What to bring: A reusable water bottle or keep cup, and closed-toe shoes.
