Discover upcoming sessions About the Health Promotion Service for Older People

The Health Promotion Service for Older People (HPSOP) is a free, community-based health education program supporting seniors across NSW to stay informed, confident, and well.

Established in 1991 and funded by NSW Health through the Western Sydney Local Health District, HPSOP raises awareness of key health issues affecting older people and helps seniors make informed choices about their health.

Volunteer Peer Educators deliver engaging one-hour sessions, available in person or online via Zoom. Sessions are offered in English and 10 community languages, with educators from both English-speaking and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Sessions focus on eight important health topics for older adults.

  • Diabetes Awareness
  • Falls & Injury Prevention
  • Healthy Bladder & Bowel Habits
  • Healthy Bones & Osteoporosis
  • Managing Your Medication
  • Oral Health Care
  • StrokeSafe
