Hub Speakers from Wildlife Rescue: March 10

04th March 2026
What would you do if you came across an injured bird — or a distressed possum — in your backyard or while you’re out and about?
This month we have two speakers from Sydney Wildlife Rescue.

We’re lucky to share our leafy suburbs with an incredible range of native wildlife. But sometimes, accidents happen, and a wild neighbour may need a helping hand.

This month we welcome the experts from Sydney Wildlife Rescue (WIRES) which is celebrating its 40-year anniversary this year. Birds and possums are by far the species most frequently brought into their care.

Our speakers:

June Tyrell will share stories from her life as a bird rescuer and rehabilitator, offering a glimpse into the challenges and rewards of caring for injured native birds.

Michael will speak about his experiences rescuing and rehabilitating possums, and offer practical tips on creating possum-friendly gardens.

Questions will be welcome - time permitting.

When: Tuesday March 10 2pm

Where: Waverton Uniting Church Hall

Entry: Free
