Woodley's Shed Community Centre at Berrys Bay: update 3 March

04th March 2026
An update in response to the public exhibition of the Place, Design and Landscape Plan (Part 2) - Berrys Bay.

Parkland & Pavilion Update

Community feedback has helped refine the parkland design. Changes include replacing the flying fox with additional shade trees and widening the southern opening of the historic Bund Wall to improve visibility and connection between spaces. The Bund Wall remains an important feature from the former oil and fuel terminal site.

Designs for Woodley’s Shed community pavilion have also progressed since first concepts were shown in 2025, with updates shaped by feedback from North Sydney Council and the community.

Key Features of the Community Building

  • Glass-walled community space overlooking Sydney Harbour and the foreshore promenade
  • Feature ceiling inspired by the site’s timber boatbuilding history, including traditional nawis (canoes)
  • Capacity for up to 100 people (banquet-style) with doors opening to outdoor areas
  • Roof panels designed to diffuse natural light and create a welcoming atmosphere
  • Accessible, family-friendly public bathrooms for both events and park visitors
  • Separate kitchen and services office to support community events (to be fitted out by Council after construction)

The updated design ensures a flexible, welcoming space for future community use.
